The Milwaukee County Zoo is considered among the finest Zoos in the country. It is located on 200 wooded acres and is home to approximately 2500 animals, representing 300 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates. The Zoo celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1992. In 1892 the Zoo began as a miniature mammal and bird display located in Milwaukee's Washington Park.
